Creating an Open Concept Home

You have just purchased a new home and would like to renovate it?

Is it too costly to heat?

Or simply too old and hadn't been updated in several decades?

You are wondering where to start and how you can reach your dream home with an open floor concept, and a ton of natural lighting and better insulation?

Achieving an open floor concept is not an easy task to take on.

Here is where you should start in order to achieve this goal.

  1. You will need to contact a general contractor to find out a balk part figure of cost to achieve your project.

  2. Then you will have to get in touch with an engineer to know if the walls you would like to demolish are supporting the load of your home

  3. Once you have an idea of price and it fits your budget and you know where your supporting walls are, you can start planning the design of your dream living space, with a designer or an architect. (A technician in architecture can also be a great option)

  4. Once the plans are made, you will need to get a permit, from your local city / birough, to get the work done. Otherwise you could be fined for doing the work, unannounced.

  5. Lastly, you need to get in touch with the contractor from

All projects are possible, but it is important to have realistics expectations and make them clear from the start, in order to have the best possible experience. You could be only 5 steps away (probably more like a hundred...LOL) from your dream living space, full of natural lighting and less costly to insulate.

Step 1 and 5 can be achieved through Lineaire General Contractor.
